Therapeutic Plants of Crete

Why not combine a week's holiday at Footscapes with the opportunity to learn about how Crete's native plants can be used to promote personal health and well - being?

The week will consist of five days of organised activities and one free day. (On the free day, there will be optional activities available).

Organised activities will include:

• A visit to a lavender farm, with the chance to see how the lavender is grown, processed and used in a variety of ways.

• A visit to an avocado plantation where the fruits are used to produce a range of creams, soaps and lotions.

• A botanical walk to gather wild herbs, subsequently learning how to dry them and use them to make herbal teas and other traditional remedies.

• A day studying the use of herbs in food, with plenty of "hands - on" activity!

• A visit to a local family business where they will demonstrate how they make their own traditional products including olive oil, wine, cheese and raki.

• A meal in a village taverna which serves traditional Cretan food.

Accommodation will be in Footscapes studios or in a nearby villa. (All accommodation is self - catering. The large swimming pool at the villa will be available to all participants during the week).

                                        Price*:    Shared studio at Footscapes   -    £320 per person.

                                                        Shared room at Villa                  -    £320 per person.

                                                        Single room at Villa                    -    £400 per person.

There are 2 villa rooms available which could also accommodate a non - participating partner (but double - bedded only). Partners can be accommodated at an additional cost of £100 above the "Single villa room" price. (Includes taverna meal on last night, but no other activities).

* Price includes accommodation, fees for organised activities, travel to/from organised activities, taverna meal on last night. The price excludes flights, airport transfers, optional activities on free day, meals (other than dinner on last night).

Please note: Courses will only be confirmed once minimum attendance has been reached. The decision to run the July holiday will be taken by 16th April 2010, the decision to run the September holiday will be taken by 1st July 2010, in plenty of time for participants to make travel arrangements. We strongly advise participants not to book flights until each holiday week has been confirmed. In the event that a holiday week does not run due to lack of numbers, any deposits will be refunded in full, but Footscapes will not be responsible for any other costs incurred.
